Memorial Day is an important day to remember all those who we have lost while serving in the armed forces. Many people will be visiting cemeteries and memorials to honor these heroes. American flags are placed on each grave in national cemeteries and red poppies are given out to be worn.
In honor of Memorial Day and the recent Armed Forces Day, at 1st Advantage we’d like to put a spotlight on one of our own employees, Alex Kiolbasa, a Marine veteran who is giving back to the community. Alex volunteers to assist veterans and their families who are in need of emergency financial help. He is the treasurer of the local Illinois Chapter of a not for profit organization, USA Cares.
Alex serves on the board and ensures that all decisions are financially responsible for the chapter. He also helps organize and attends all fundraising events. Alex says “I am happy to be a part of such a powerful organization with a great cause. Hearing the success stories is what drives me to help our chapter be successful in our goal to contribute to the veteran community.”
USA Cares assists veterans in need, by providing grants rather than loans, to provide or prevent: foreclosure or eviction, treatment for PTSD, job assistance, groceries, utilities and more. The Illinois chapter is roughly 6 months young, and Alex has been with them since day one.
If you’d like more information about USA Cares, you can contact Alex at email@example.com or by phone at 630-777-1713.
