- 2 ounces tequila — silver tequila
- 1 ounce Cointreau
- 1 ounce lime juice
- Ice cubes
- Cocktail shaker
- Cocktail glass
Make sure your tequila is 100 percent agave, the plant that tequila is traditionally made from. Save the great golden añejos for sipping. You should also be aware that Cointreau yields results clearly superior to triple sec, most brands of which are marred by an unpleasant chemical aftertaste.
Step 1: Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add tequila, Cointreau, and lime juice.
Step 2: Shake ingredients together until mixed and chilled. This usually takes about 30 seconds. The drink should be ready by the time the shaker mists up.
Step 3: Press the rim of a chilled glass into a mixture of lime juice and salt.
Step 4: Strain margarita into your chilled, salted cocktail glass.
This is best enjoyed with a slice of lime added to the rim. And if you’re hungry, grab some tortilla chips and salsa or guacamole. Hope you enjoy and let us know what else you would like to try.
