#1AMcooks: Banana Flip
If you’re looking for a recipe that will bring back memories of your childhood, or maybe something new and delicious, try this banana flip.
Ingredients:
- 1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix
- 1 (3.5 ounce) package instant banana pudding mix
- 4 eggs
- 1 ½ cups milk
FILLING:
- 1 ½ cups white sugar
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup butter
- 3/4 cup shortening
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 ½ teaspoons banana extract
Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°. Grease and flour two 9×13 inch pans. Set them aside.
Step 2: In a large bowl, stir together the cake mix and instant pudding. Beat in the eggs and milk.
Step 3: Divide and pour the batter evenly between the two pans.
Step 4: Bake for 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the centers come out clean. While the cake is baking, make the filling.
Step 5: Stir together the sugar and flour. In a separate medium bowl, cream together the butter, shortening and sugar/flour mixture. Beat in the milk and banana extract until smooth.
Step 6: When the cake is cooled, invert one onto a serving tray. Spread filling over the top and cover with the remaining second cake.
Step 7: Keep chilled for a half hour before serving.
