This is Labor Day weekend and you know what that means, cook-outs. It’s almost like the last hoorah of the summer before everyone settles in with their cozy sweaters and Pumpkin Spice Lattes. Make a statement by bringing along this tasty Home-Made Barbecue Sauce.
- 1 tablespoon canola oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 onion, diced
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/3 cup molasses
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 4 tablespoons minced chipotle peppers in adobo sauce
- 4 tablespoons distilled vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- Dash salt
Step 1: Heat oil in a saucepan over medium-low heat.
Step 2: Add the garlic and onions and cook for 5 minutes. Make sure to stir frequently to avoid burning the garlic and onions. Reduce to low heat.
Step 3: Add ketchup, molasses, brown sugar, chipotle peppers, vinegar (or add to taste), Worcestershire sauce and salt. Stir and then allow to simmer for 20 minutes.
Step 4: Taste it! This is the best step. If you need anything additional, now is the time to add it in.
This is best enjoyed with pulled pork, grilled chicken or hot wings. We hope you enjoy this recipe and feel free to let us know what else you would like to try.
