How To: Clean a Refrigerator
While the refrigerator is used often, most people don’t make it a weekly task to clean out old food or wipe it down. To have a fresh smelling, organized refrigerator follow the steps below.
Supplies: Coil Brush, Trash Bag, Recycle Bin, Dry Cloth, Multi-Purpose Cleaner
STEP 1
Unplug the refrigerator and slide a coil brush underneath to remove built up dust.
STEP 2
Empty everything out and throw away any expired food. If you have any glass or plastic containers, clean them out and recycle them if you can.
STEP 3
Remove all the drawers and scrub them out with warm, soapy water. Let the drawers air dry or pat them down with a dry cloth. Make sure to get them completely dry before putting them back in the refrigerator.
STEP 4
Spray and clean the inside of the refrigerator with a multi-purpose cleaner. Get into the nooks and crannies to get rid of all of the crumbs and sticky spots.
STEP 5
Plug the refrigerator back in, put the drawers back and return the food. Make sure to give a final wipe down to any jars or bottles.
STEP 6
Place a small box of baking soda inside to help reduce odors.
STEP 7
Wipe down the exterior.
