The Lions Club is an International service organization based in Oak Brook, Illinois that supports sight, sound and health programs. Lions provides services that include vision screenings, eye banks, eyeglass recycling, eye care services to those at risk of losing their sight, hearing screening and hearing aids to those in need, as well as health programs that support efforts to control and prevent diabetes.
At 1st Advantage Mortgage, Jackie Gregory volunteers locally at the Crest Hill Lions Club. They provide all the International programs to those in their community, as well as servicing local organizations with donations. Jackie said, “I knew that this organization was something I wanted to be a part of so I became a member.”
Jackie has been in the club for three years and was the first female Lion Club member in the Crest Hill Lions Club. She was asked one day to be the “Lion” at various events throughout the year. She now puts on the lion costume at events and loves every minute of it, “to see the children’s excitement is priceless.”
Jackie volunteers for as many events throughout the year as she can. She helps collect donations for Candy days and Tootsie Pop days, helps serve at the Halloweenie Roast and Easter Egg hunt and for the picnic, she is responsible for the kids activities.
The Lions Club has donated to the Crest Hill Library to support the computer lab as well as other area Lions Clubs for disaster relief. There are a few free events where she volunteers in the community each year. On Halloween, the Lions Club provides free hot dogs at three locations throughout the city of Crest Hill for the trick or treaters as well as an Easter Egg hunt, in which the Easter Bunny and Crest Hill Lion make an appearance.
