While the humble microwave is often shunned for serious cooking, you might be pleasantly surprised by this recipe for microwave apple crisp. Whether you’re looking for a traditional hot dessert with minimal fuss or want an approachable recipe to introduce a new cook to the kitchen, this dish delivers.
Servings: 6
Ingredients:
- 4 large Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and sliced
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 3/4 cup quick cooking oats
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon allspice
Step 1: Spread the apples evenly in an 8-inch square glass baking dish (a deep-dish glass pie plate also works). In a medium bowl, mix together the melted butter, brown sugar, oats, flour, cinnamon and allspice. Then, sprinkle this topping evenly over the apples.
Step 2: Microwave on full power for 10 to 12 minutes, until the apples can easily be pierced with a knife. Serve and enjoy!
