6 Daily Tasks for a Cleaner Home
Are you constantly feeling overwhelmed about finding time to clean your home? Instead of wasting your weekends with house chores, try to do these six tasks every day and you’ll learn to maintain a clean home all year long. Each task takes only a couple of minutes to complete, so you can spend more time doing the things you love.
1. Make the bed
It may be difficult at first, but try to make it a habit to make your bed every morning. Not only does it make your room look instantly cleaner, but studies suggest that people who make their beds daily actually sleep better at night.
2. Clean up after dinner
Instead of leaving your dishes to sit overnight, rinse and place them in the dishwasher. Then wipe down all your cooking surfaces for an instantly cleaner look and feel. The few minutes of extra effort will really go a long way as you move through the week.
3. Do a small load of laundry
Instead of letting your laundry pile up, try to do one small load every day (or even every few days), depending on how many people you’re washing clothes for in your household. Smaller loads not only take less time and energy to wash and dry, they also take less time to fold and put away!
4. Wipe down bathroom surfaces
The bathroom tends to be everyone’s least favorite room to clean, understandably so. But instead of a top-to-bottom cleaning session, make an effort to wipe down all surfaces in your bathroom at least once a day. This will keep your bathroom fresh for any surprise visitors that happen to drop by at the last minute.
5. Tidy as you go
As you go about your day, make an effort to tidy up as you see things out of place – straighten the couch pillows, put things back in their proper spots, store shoes back in the closet, etc. These simple tasks only take a few seconds and will instantly make your home look cleaner.
6. Check one thing off your chore list
Maybe you’ve been meaning to dust your bedroom furniture or organize the linen cabinets – whatever it is, try to check one small cleaning task off your list each day to help keep housework from feeling too overwhelming.
Forming new habits and breaking old ones is no easy feat, but with a little effort each day you will see how simple it is to maintain a clean home – or at least the impression of one!
